A spice producer needed to fill spice powder accurately into pre-made pouches of 1 kg to 3 kg at its Durban branch. We supplied a semi-automatic auger filler fed by an auger screw conveyor, with screws for each weight range and a band sealer to close the pouches.
The customer manufactures spice powders for retail and distribution and packs them at its Durban branch in pre-made pouches of 1 kg to 3 kg. Spice powder is fine and dusty, so it has to be dosed by a screw rather than poured, and every pouch has to reach its declared weight.
The line had to dose fine spice powder accurately across a range of pouch sizes, with stainless steel wherever the product is touched.

We recommended a semi-automatic auger filler because an auger screw doses fine powders such as spices accurately by weight. An auger screw conveyor keeps the filler's hopper topped up, additional screws cover the 1 kg to 3 kg range, and a band sealer closes each filled pouch.
The operator places a pouch under the filler, the auger doses the set weight, and the pouch moves to the band sealer to be closed.
