Configurations
A pallet wrapping machine wraps stretch film around a palletised load to hold it together. Which configuration you need comes down to where you wrap and what the load is: a turntable wrapper for a fixed wrapping station, a rotary arm wrapper where the load must stay still, or a self-propelled wrapper that drives around loads anywhere on the floor. For wrapping single products and multipacks before they reach the pallet, see wrapping machines.
01
The turntable pallet wrapper we supply takes loads of up to 2,000 kg on a 1,650 mm turntable and wraps 20 to 40 pallets an hour. A photo-eye finds the top of each load, so loads of different heights run without resetting, and the film carriage carries a fall protection device. The H model wraps loads up to 2,000 mm tall and the XL model up to 2,350 mm. We have supplied it to several customers, one of them ordering six machines.
Best for
•Palletised cartons
•Mixed loads for dispatch
•Warehouses and end-of-line packing
Benefits
Loads up to 2,000 kg
Photo-eye height sensing
20 to 40 pallets an hour
02
The film carriage stretches the film up to 250% before it reaches the load, so each roll wraps more pallets. Film delivery runs on its own DC motor, with electronic tension control, an adjustable dancer bar and a heavy-duty double-chain carriage lift. A reinforce wrap setting secures two loads stacked one above the other.
Best for
•Loads stacked two high
•Lower film use
•Consistent wrap tension
Benefits
Pre-stretch up to 250%
Electronic film tension
Reinforce wrap for stacked loads
03
A self-propelled pallet wrapper drives itself around the load, applying stretch film at a steady tension, so there is no fixed wrapping station and no turntable for the load to fit on. It suits heavy, oversized or unstable loads, with no set limit on load weight. The one we have supplied to a food manufacturer runs on batteries for an 8-hour duty cycle, travels at up to 62 m a minute, wraps loads from 600 × 600 mm up to 1,800 mm tall, and stops automatically when the operator enters the working area.
Best for
•Heavy or oversized loads
•Several wrapping areas
•Loads too large for a turntable
Benefits
No fixed wrapping station
Battery powered
Stops when the operator enters
04
On a rotary arm pallet wrapper the load stays still on the floor while an arm carries the film around it, so the load is never turned. That suits loads that are unstable or awkward to spin. The rotary arm wrapper we have supplied wraps 25 to 30 loads an hour, takes pallets up to 1,300 × 1,300 mm, and wraps loads up to 2.3 m tall, with photo-eye height sensing and a reinforce wrap for stacked loads.
Best for
•Unstable or awkward loads
•Loads that must not be turned
•Pallets up to 1,300 × 1,300 mm
Benefits
Load stays still
25 to 30 loads an hour
Wraps up to 2.3 m tall
05
A turntable pallet wrapper can weigh each load as it is wrapped and print a sticker showing the weight. The one we have supplied takes loads of up to 2,000 kg on a 1,650 mm turntable, for loads 500 to 1,200 mm long and wide and up to 2,000 mm tall, with semi-automatic and manual wrap modes.
Best for
•Loads sold or dispatched by weight
•Dispatch records per pallet
•Loads up to 2,000 kg
Benefits
Weighs every pallet
Prints a weight sticker
Semi-automatic or manual wrapping

Specifications
A pallet wrapping machine is specified by the load: its footprint, height and weight set the turntable, the mast height and the film. The turntable pallet wrapper we supply takes loads of up to 2,000 kg on a 1,650 mm turntable.
Output depends on the load height, the number of film layers each load needs and how quickly pallets reach the machine. The turntable pallet wrapper we have supplied wraps 20 to 40 pallets an hour.

ABOUT THE MACHINE
A pallet wrapping machine, or pallet wrapper, holds a palletised load together with stretch film for storage and transport. On a turntable wrapper the pallet turns while a film carriage travels up and down the mast; on a self-propelled wrapper the load stays still and the machine drives around it. No heat is used: the stretch in the film holds the load together.
Also known as
Each load follows these steps:
Powered pre-stretch stretches the film up to 250% before it reaches the load, so each roll wraps more pallets, and electronic tension control sets how tightly the film pulls around the load.
For two loads stacked one above the other, the reinforce wrap setting secures the upper load to the lower one.
See a stretch wrapper running in our box wrapping machine video.
A pallet wrapper uses stretch film without heat; shrink wrapping a pallet uses heat-shrink film instead. Read can you shrink wrap a pallet?.
For wrapping single products and multipacks before they are palletised, see wrapping machines.

Comparison
Stretch wrapping and shrink wrapping both hold a pallet load together in film. A pallet wrapping machine wraps stretch film around the load under tension, with no heat; shrink wrapping covers the load in heat-shrink film and shrinks it tight with heat.
| Stretch wrapping | Shrink wrapping | |
|---|---|---|
| Film | Stretch film, 17 to 35 µm on our pallet wrapper | Heat-shrink film |
| Heat | None | Heat shrinks the film tight |
| What holds the load | The tension of the stretched film | The film shrinking around the load |
Choose a pallet wrapping machine for loads that leave on pallets every day. For when shrink wrapping a pallet makes sense, read can you shrink wrap a pallet?.
A turntable pallet wrapper suits a fixed wrapping station, with loads up to 2,000 kg that fit its 1,650 mm turntable, and wraps 20 to 40 pallets an hour; add a scale and printer to weigh and label each pallet. A rotary arm wrapper carries the film around a load that stays still, at 25 to 30 loads an hour, for loads that should not be turned. A self-propelled pallet wrapper drives around the load, for heavy or oversized loads and lines with several wrapping areas. All sit at the end of the line, after a sleeve sealer or cartoning machine has bundled or boxed the products.
Advantages
Choose a pallet wrapping machine when loads leave your site on pallets. It wraps every load the same way at the same film tension and uses less film through powered pre-stretch. A turntable wrapper wraps 20 to 40 pallets an hour at a fixed station, with a photo-eye that finds the top of each load; a self-propelled wrapper takes the wrapping to the load, for pallets too heavy or too large for a turntable.
Quotation
Every pallet wrapping machine is quoted to your loads rather than from a list price. Send us the size and weight of your loads and the number you wrap a day, and we will quote the configuration that suits them. For what shapes the figure on any machine quotation, see the packaging machine cost guide.

Questions
A pallet wrapping machine, or pallet wrapper, wraps stretch film around a palletised load to hold it together for storage and transport. On a turntable pallet wrapper the load turns while a film carriage moves up and down the mast; on a rotary arm wrapper the load stands still and the arm carries the film around it; and a self-propelled wrapper drives itself around the load.
The turntable pallet wrapper we supply takes loads of up to 2,000 kg on a 1,650 mm turntable. The self-propelled pallet wrapper has no set weight limit, because the machine drives around the load instead of turning it.
The turntable pallet wrapper we supply wraps 20 to 40 pallets an hour and the rotary arm wrapper 25 to 30 loads an hour, depending on the load height and the number of film layers each load needs.
A pallet wrapping machine uses stretch film 17 to 35 µm thick and 500 mm wide. Powered pre-stretch stretches the film up to 250% before it reaches the load, so each roll wraps more pallets.
Up to 2,000 mm on the turntable H model, 2,350 mm on the XL model, 2.3 m on the rotary arm wrapper and 1,800 mm on the self-propelled wrapper. Sensors find the top of each load, so loads of different heights run without resetting.
Yes. A turntable pallet wrapper can be fitted with a scale and a sticker printer, so each pallet is weighed as it is wrapped and labelled with its weight. The one we have supplied takes loads of up to 2,000 kg.
A self-propelled pallet wrapper is a battery-powered machine that drives around a pallet load, wrapping it in stretch film as it goes. The one we have supplied runs an 8-hour duty cycle, travels at up to 62 m a minute and stops automatically when the operator enters the working area.
