A South African supplier of spare parts and small components was repacking by hand, which slowed output as orders grew. We trialled its parts on a floor model and supplied a 3-servo flow wrapper that now repacks them automatically, with operators trained on set-up and changeovers.
The customer supplies spare parts and small components to several industries at medium production scale. Parts come in different sizes and groupings, and every pack has to be sealed, counted correctly and look the same as the last.
Parts were repacked by hand, and as volumes grew the packing could not keep up.
Repacking by hand took time and labour that rose with every order.
Pack quality varied, and counting by hand risked errors.
Peak demand was limited by how fast people could pack.
We recommended a 3-servo flow wrapper because servo control adjusts to different part sizes and groupings, and each pack is sealed the same way every time.
The machine forms film around each product as it travels along the infeed, seals it and cuts it into individual packs.
