A spice producer wanted 200 g packs of spice powder in stand-up, flat-bottom and zipper pouches, formed from roll film at high speed. We supplied a full-servo horizontal form-fill-seal line with a twin-head auger filler that runs at 80 to 90 pouches a minute.
The customer manufactures spice powders for retail and distribution. It wanted its 200 g spice packs in premium pouches that stand on the shelf and reseal, formed from roll film on its own line rather than bought in as pre-made pouches.
The line had to make premium pouches from roll film and fill them with fine spice powder at high speed, with SUS316 stainless steel wherever the spice is touched.
Stand-up, flat-bottom and zipper pouches, all formed from roll film on the same line.
Spice powder dosed by weight into every pouch, with dust kept under control on the line.
80 to 90 pouches a minute from one line, with quick changes between pouch widths.
We recommended a full-servo horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) machine because it forms, fills and seals premium pouches from roll film in one line, and servo drives keep film control and sealing accurate at speed. A twin-head auger filler doses the spice powder, and the line adds a zipper applicator, a die cutter for rounded corners, automatic film splicing, dust collection and a refrigeration unit.
Roll film is formed into the pouch, the twin-head auger doses 200 g of spice, and the pouch is zipped, sealed and cut with rounded corners.
| Machine | Full-servo horizontal form-fill-seal |
| Product | Spice powder, 200 g |
| Pouch types | Stand-up, flat-bottom and zipper |
| Pouch size | 70–150 mm wide, 100–280 mm long |
| Speed | 80 to 90 pouches a minute |
| Dosing | Twin-head auger filler |
| Accuracy | ±2% |
| Add-ons | Zipper applicator, rounded-corner die cutter, automatic film splicer, dust collection, refrigeration unit |
| Changeover | Pouch width and grippers from the touch screen |
| Contact parts | SUS316 stainless steel |
| Frame | SUS304 plates on an epoxy-coated frame |
| Power | 380 V, 13.5 kW |
| Line length | About 11.2 m |
Each pouch is formed, filled and finished in one pass along the line.
Roll film feeds the machine, and the automatic film splicer joins in each new roll.
Servo drives fold, seal and cut the film into stand-up, flat-bottom or zipper pouches, and the zipper applicator adds the zip.
The twin-head auger filler doses 200 g of spice powder into each pouch to within 2%, with dust collection on the line.
The pouch is sealed and the die cutter rounds the corners.
Pouch width and grippers change from the touch screen. Pouch height and film width are set by hand.
The line was supplied to form, fill and seal 200 g pouches of spice powder at 80 to 90 a minute to within 2%, with a zip, rounded corners and automatic film splicing.
Depending on the product and fill weight.
The twin-head auger doses each pouch by weight.
