A juice producer in Johannesburg needed to automate the filling and sealing of its juice and water products into pre-formed cups of up to 125 ml. We supplied an automatic rotary cup filler-sealer that fills and foil-seals 20 to 25 cups a minute and has been in production since installation.
The customer produces fruit juice and water and wanted several products packed into the same pre-formed cups, up to 125 ml each. Juice has to stay evenly mixed from the first cup to the last, every part that touches it has to be food-grade, and each cup needs a sealed foil lid that holds through storage and transport.
The line had to fill and seal several juice and water products on one machine, to food-grade standards, with the operator kept clear of moving parts.
Up to four juice and water products had to run on the same machine, in cups of up to 125 ml.
Every contact part had to be SUS304 stainless steel, each cup foil-sealed, and the machine compatible with cleaning in place.
Moving parts had to be enclosed behind guards, covers and safety doors.
We recommended an automatic rotary cup filling and sealing machine because a pump fills thin liquids such as juice accurately by volume, and a rotary layout keeps the line compact. An agitator in the product hopper keeps the juice evenly mixed between cups, a level sensor watches the tank, and an aluminium foil lid seals each cup.
The machine loads each pre-formed cup, fills it by pump, heat-seals a foil lid, cuts it from the film and discharges the sealed cup.

The machine was tested on the customer's own cups and approved in two acceptance tests before it went into production.
The customer's cups were used to test cup handling, filling and foil sealing.
Video demonstrations and performance reviews were shared with the customer as the machine was set up.
A full test run before shipping found items to adjust. They were corrected and the test was signed off.
A second test run after the machine arrived in South Africa, with final refinements and customer approval.
Our team installed the machine on site in Johannesburg, tested it and trained the operators.
The machine has been in production since installation, filling and foil-sealing juice at 20 to 25 cups a minute. The customer comes back to us for repairs and parts as the line runs.
The line fills 50 to 150 ml cups by pump and seals each one with a foil lid.
Both acceptance tests were passed before the line started.
Seal strips, suction cups, air tubing and a pressure regulator came from our Johannesburg workshop.
