A packer of clear glass jars needed stable shrink-wrapped packs of 4, 6 and 12 jars. We supplied a side sealer shrink wrap machine with upgraded conveyors and a sensor for transparent jars, and it now runs reliably in the customer’s production.
The customer packs products in clear glass jars for retail and sells them in grouped packs of 4, 6 and 12 jars. Glass jars have to move steadily through every part of the machine to keep each pack in shape, and clear glass is hard for a standard sensor to detect.
In the first trials the main problem was keeping the jars stable as they moved between the sealer and the shrink tunnel.
The machine had to wrap clear glass jars in packs of 4, 6 and 12.
The jars moved at the transfer points between machine sections, which upset the packs.
A standard sensor could not reliably detect clear glass jars.
We recommended a side sealer shrink wrap machine for the continuous wrapping of grouped jar packs, and added upgrades that keep clear glass jars stable and detected all the way through the machine.
Grouped jars travel through the side sealer, which seals the film along the side and ends of the pack, then into the shrink tunnel.

Model codes shown are machines we have built or configured for previous projects. Your machine is specified and built to suit your product, output and pack format — not supplied off the shelf.
The upgrades came from trials with the customer’s own jars on our floor model. Once they worked, the customer approved and bought the upgraded machine.
Several jar sizes and pack formats were run on the floor model.
Jar stability was checked through the whole packing cycle.
The points where the jars moved between sections were identified.
Transition conveyors, a mesh belt and guide bars were added for steady movement.
A sensor made for clear bottles and jars was fitted.
After installation and commissioning, the upgraded side sealer is running successfully at the customer’s factory and the stability problems found in testing are solved.
Glass jar packs of 4, 6 and 12 are shrink wrapped reliably.
Product stability at the transfer points improved.
The machine runs in daily production after commissioning.
