A spice producer in Nigeria needed to pack spice powder into retail bags of 500 g to 3 kg and bulk bags of 5 kg to 25 kg. We supplied automatic auger VFFS lines for both formats, fed by screw conveyors, with a thermal transfer printer and a checkweigher on the small-bag line.
The customer produces spice powders in Nigeria and packs them in two formats: pillow and side-gusset bags of 500 g to 3 kg for retail, and bulk bags of 5 kg to 25 kg. Spice powder is fine and dusty, so it has to be dosed by an auger screw, and every bag has to reach its declared weight.
The customer wanted automatic bagging for both its retail and bulk formats, with stainless steel wherever the spice is touched.
Bags from 500 g to 3 kg and from 5 kg to 25 kg had to be formed, filled and sealed automatically.
Spice powder had to be dosed by weight into every bag, from the smallest pack to the largest.
Retail bags needed a printed code and a check that every bag leaves the line on weight.
We recommended auger VFFS machines because an auger screw doses fine powders by weight while the machine forms, fills and seals each bag from film in one cycle. On each line a stainless screw conveyor keeps the auger hopper filled. The small-bag line adds a thermal transfer printer and a checkweigher, and the bulk-bag line adds a static eliminator and a deduster.
Film is formed into a bag, the auger doses the set weight, and the bag is sealed, coded, cut and discharged onto the take-off conveyor.

Model codes shown are machines we have built or configured for previous projects. Your machine is specified and built to suit your product, output and pack format — not supplied off the shelf.
Both lines follow the same sequence, sized for their bag weights.
A stainless screw conveyor lifts spice powder from a 230 L hopper to the auger filler.
The auger screw doses the set weight. Additional screws match the small-bag line to each weight range.
The VFFS machine forms the bag from film on a forming shoulder, fills it and seals it. Additional forming shoulders cover each bag width.
On the small-bag line a thermal transfer printer codes each bag and a checkweigher pushes off any bag that is off weight.
A conveyor carries finished bags away from the machine for packing.
The lines were supplied to bag spice powder automatically from 500 g to 25 kg, with one or two operators on the small-bag line.
Small bags up to 3 kg and bulk bags up to 25 kg.
Depending on how the powder flows and the bag size.
A checkweigher pushes off any small bag that is off weight.
