Industrial packaging machinery supplied from Johannesburg to manufacturers across Malawi.
We supply flow wrap, VFFS, HFFS, filling, labelling and shrink wrapping machines to producers in Malawi. The full range is available on the same terms as for a buyer in Johannesburg. The machine that suits you depends on your product, your packaging film and your required output.
Malawian producers most often ask for auger-dosed and weigher-fed vertical form-fill-seal machines, with flow wrap for anything sold as a wrapped unit. This reflects what the country packs, which is overwhelmingly dry goods: tea, sugar, maize meal, groundnuts and pulses.
Send us your product and we will test it before you buy. Courier us your product, the packaging film you intend to use and the carton you pack into. We run a sample batch on the recommended machine and send you the results. No deposit is required for the trial.
We have not yet installed a machine in Malawi. Across Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Zambia we have delivered all four of the machine types listed on this page, being shrink wrap, flow wrap, vertical form-fill-seal and horizontal form-fill-seal, as well as multihead-weigher systems. We have also air freighted machines directly to clients in Nigeria.

A machine for Malawi is quoted exactly as it would be for a South African buyer, around your product, pack format, output and level of automation, with installation and operator training included. What changes is the leg from Johannesburg and the clearing at the three crossings on the Tete corridor. Those sit with you, and the split is set out below and in full in our guide to exporting packaging machines.
Our quoted price includes sea freight from the factory to our workshop in Riversands, Johannesburg, which is our only premises in South Africa. There are two ways to move the machine from there into Malawi. Collecting from Johannesburg is usually the more affordable route.
The machine arrives at Riversands as part of our normal sea shipment, and this freight is already included in the quoted price.
For some machines we can air freight the unit directly to your country instead of routing it through Johannesburg. We supplied our clients in Nigeria this way.
Malawi is landlocked, so a sea shipment would still arrive at Beira, Nacala or Durban and travel the rest of the way by road. We also book whole containers and consolidate several customers’ machines into each one, so a shared container cannot be redirected to a single buyer.
Machines leave our Riversands workshop in Johannesburg and travel north through Zimbabwe and the Tete corridor in Mozambique. It is roughly 1,800 km to Blantyre and about 2,100 km to Lilongwe. The route crosses three border posts, so a courier experienced on this corridor is worth more than a cheap quote. Our technicians then travel to site to install and commission the machine.
Lead time is the same as for a South African buyer: a machine we hold at Riversands is ready once payment clears, and one that is not in stock takes 10 to 12 weeks from deposit. Transport from Johannesburg and clearing at the border are on top of that, and the export guide sets out the full sequence.
We supply and support producers across the region from the same Johannesburg workshop, including Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho. See every area we cover on our service areas page.
Ratings and reviews are published on our Google Business Profile, where they can be read in full and in context.
Highly recommended! Excellent customer service, great prices, and they always go above and beyond.
These are the questions we are asked most often by producers in Malawi. Clearing, warranty, air freight and the rest of the export process are set out in full on our guide to exporting packaging machines from South Africa.
The run goes north through Zimbabwe and the Tete corridor in Mozambique, roughly 1,800 km to Blantyre and about 2,100 km to Lilongwe. It crosses three border posts, so a courier who knows the corridor is worth more than the cheapest quote you can find.
Our technicians travel up to commission the machine and train your operators, both included in the quote. You arrange and cover the visa, flights, accommodation, meals, local transport and days on site. Visas and the distance both take planning, so give us as much notice as you can.
Wear parts are couriered from the Johannesburg shelf. On a three-border corridor that still beats an eight to twelve week factory order comfortably, but it is the strongest argument for keeping sealing elements and belts on site rather than ordering them the day the line stops.
We start on a phone or video call with your operator at the machine, which matters at this distance. Faults have so far been resolved remotely without a trip. If a visit is genuinely needed we will arrange it and you cover the travel.
Quotes are issued in rand and converted to kwacha or dollars on request, with the rate and the date noted, and that conversion can be updated to the rate on the day you pay. Terms are 50% deposit and the balance before delivery.
Tell us what you are packing and where in Malawi the machine is going. We need the product, the pack format, your target output, your electrical supply and the town. We will then recommend a suitable machine, quote the price, and compare the cost of collecting from Johannesburg against air freight.
